Fabrication Team Member

Fabrication Part-time / Full-time Upper Tract, WV - On-site $12–15/hour

About the Role

Fabrication Team Members handle the build and cleaning work that goes into our clients’ final products. That means cleaning and inspecting Riker display cases, executing multi-step assembly tasks, and making sure every finished piece meets the standard before it ships. Our largest fabrication client is Mini Museum, a precision collectibles brand whose customers display their pieces as curated collections — alignment, centering, and care aren’t preferences, they’re requirements.

The work is quiet, seated or standing, and repetitive. You can listen to music or podcasts. It requires genuine focus and steady hands. If you’re someone who finds satisfaction in doing detailed work correctly at volume, this role is built for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Clean and inspect Riker display cases; remove adhesive residue with a razor blade as needed
  • Execute multi-step final assembly: punch openings, seat specimens, align to standard, add cards and hardware, barcode finished units
  • Work with adhesives, bag sealers, and hand tools on a regular basis
  • Keep tops and bottoms of display cases paired — this matters
  • Flag shortages or defects immediately rather than working around them
  • Support inventory counts and assist with order fulfillment as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Genuine attention to detail — not as a claim, but as something you can demonstrate in how you work
  • Comfort with close, precise, repetitive tasks over a sustained period
  • Patience to get alignment right on every unit, not just most of them
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs; comfortable working seated or standing
  • Comfortable with a razor blade for detail work on glass
  • Able to read and write, and comfortable using a computer to record data — scanners, spreadsheets, and simple task/inventory software are part of the daily job
  • No prior experience required — carefulness and consistency are the most important qualifiers

Hours & Communication

Hours range from part-time to full-time and scale with client build volume. Surge hours are expected during our clients’ peak seasons — most heavily during the roughly six-week holiday shipping season, with other busy periods around client needs. Slack is required and is how our whole team handles scheduling, communication, and reporting.

Why Initiative Distribution

We’re a small shop in Upper Tract, West Virginia doing work that requires more care than most warehouses offer. The fabrication floor is where a lot of that care lives — you’ll learn client products in depth, build real expertise, and have a direct path to a Team Lead role on a client account. Cross-training into order fulfillment opens additional hours and a wider role.

The work you do here ends up on someone’s shelf. That matters to us, and we think it’ll matter to you too.

Apply through this process - and only this process

The application below is the only way to be considered. Do not contact our staff directly about openings - by phone, in person, on social media, or through anyone who works here. Everyone on the team is busy doing the work, and we ask you to respect that the same way we'll respect your time once you're in the process.

We're a process-oriented company. Going around the process is the first strike against an application, because how you handle this tells us how you'll handle the job. Apply here, and we'll review every submission and get back to you.
