About the Role
A Team Lead at Initiative Distribution owns a client account. That means doing the work — packing, building, cleaning — while making sure anyone else working on that client does it right. The authority in this role comes from knowing the client’s products better than anyone else on the floor and being the person who catches problems before they ship.
Team Leads are assigned to clients for the long term. It takes time to build the depth this role requires, and we invest in that. You may hold more than one small account; as we add clients, leads who’ve earned it take them on.
What You’ll Do
- Execute fulfillment, fabrication, and cleaning tasks directly — this is a working floor role
- Maintain quality and accuracy standards for your client account; catch errors before they leave the building
- Set up build tasks and stage work areas for team members assigned to your account
- Learn your client’s products deeply — specs, packaging, quality requirements, and why they matter
- Escalate shortages, damage, and process issues immediately; document them properly
- Help onboard team members to your client’s requirements when they’re assigned to work with you
- Participate in occasional client meetings to provide floor-level context
What We’re Looking For
- Strong product retention — you’ll need to carry detailed client knowledge and apply it consistently
- Accuracy as a habit, not just an intention
- Clear, proactive communication; you’re the first line of quality control for your account
- Leads by doing — this role earns credibility on the floor, not from a title
- Able to read and write, and comfortable using computer systems to record and look up data (scanners, spreadsheets, order/inventory software)
- Comfortable with Slack and Asana (for applicable clients)
- Prior warehouse or fulfillment experience preferred; demonstrated reliability and accuracy over time is the most important qualifier
Hours & Communication
This is a full-time role, with surge hours expected during our clients’ peak seasons — most heavily during the roughly six-week holiday shipping season, with other busy periods around client needs. Slack is required and is how our whole team handles scheduling, communication, and reporting.
Why Initiative Distribution
This is the kind of role where you become the person who knows something nobody else does. Deep client knowledge, real responsibility, and a direct line between your work and the customer experience. We’re growing, and as we add clients, the people who’ve built that expertise are the ones who take on more.

Apply through this process - and only this process
The application below is the only way to be considered. Do not contact our staff directly about openings - by phone, in person, on social media, or through anyone who works here. Everyone on the team is busy doing the work, and we ask you to respect that the same way we'll respect your time once you're in the process.
We're a process-oriented company. Going around the process is the first strike against an application, because how you handle this tells us how you'll handle the job. Apply here, and we'll review every submission and get back to you.
